Tahoe vs. Expedition

The Chevy Tahoe vs. Ford Expedition has been a long-standing competition. The many changes to the 2021 Chevy Tahoe, however, just may edge out the Expedition. Let’s take a look at what to expect on the all-new Tahoe.

Starting Price: $50,295 (estimate)

What’s Under the Hood

The Tahoe has always had an impressive V8 engine, and that will continue on the 2021 model. New for 2021 will be the additional option of a 3.0 liter diesel 6-cylinder. No matter which engine you choose, the Tahoe will feature a ten-speed automatic transmission with push-button electronic shift, and you’ll have your choice, as in past years, of RWD or AWD.

New From the Ground Up

The all-new Tahoe features an independent rear suspension and longer wheelbase. This allowed for greater passenger room and cargo space (see below) as well as improved driving dynamics. Drivers will notice a smoother ride even on unpaved surfaces and more comfortable seating positions.

One of the most noticeable differences in the 2021 Chevy Tahoe comes courtesy of the all-new chassis that delivers greatly improved handling. Plus, the Air Ride Adaptive Suspension system and Magnetic Ride Control also provide improved control—and neither of these features are available on the competition.

Interior Space

The interior of the 2021 Chevy Tahoe is the largest yet. The addition of an incredible 10 inches of legroom in the third row and 66% more cargo space behind the third row are both best-in-class features.

Safety

Safety has always been a priority for Chevy, and that continues on the 2021 Chevy Tahoe. All Tahoes include impressive standard safety features such as forward-collision warning and automatic braking. Options including rear cross traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring are also available.

Also new for 2021 are 9 camera views (best in class!), trailer profiles, and Side Blind Zone Alert for trailering.

Other safety features include:

Restraint System with driver inboard seat-mounted side-impact airbag and Passenger Sensing System
HD Rear Vision Camera
Following Distance Indicator
Front Pedestrian Braking
Rear Park Assist
And More!

Technology

Larger displays, improved connectivity, and a brand new rear-seat media system makes it easy to stay connected on long road trips. The competition-beating 10-inch color touchscreen is one of 5 screens offered in the 2021 Tahoe.

The rear-seat media system is the best in the full-size SUV category. Rear passengers can share content or watch different content. Another exciting feature is a built-in WiFi hotspot with available 4G LTE data. Wireless charging is also available on all but the LS trim levels.

Impressed? That was the goal, and these major changes, including many best-in-class features, will make it difficult for the other SUVs in the category to keep up. While the Ford Expedition has long been a worthy competitor, the many significant updates make the Tahoe the clear winner in the Chevy Tahoe vs Ford Expedition debate.
